Workshop "Practical issues of existing socio-medical care at home", 15-16 July 2011, Ialoveni

The seminar was organized during 15-16th July at the Family Doctors Centre from Ialoveni city. 27 nurses (100% women) from the Ialoveni district, representing 17 communities from the region participated at the seminar. The seminar was moderated by MCA partner organization - Nursing Association from Moldova. The subjects for current seminar had been selected according to the innovative theoretical and practical approaches of the nursing in Moldova. Thus, hyperglycemia, musculoskeletal disorders and Alzheimer illness were considered the appropriate topics to be discussed during the seminar as the most of homecare beneficiaries are affected by these diseases.

Participant learned the main characteristics of the diseases, how to elaborate the care plan and how to work in a multidisciplinary team. Also there were discussed the issues related to training of patients and their relatives, the premises of nursing development in Moldova, public communication methods referring the prevention and treatment and the relevant aspects of local legal framework.

The applied training methods were plenary presentation, group work, video presentation, role play. The trainers had used special evaluation test before and after the presentation of each topics in order to appreciate participants’ knowledge.

The workshop was a great opportunity to asses the progress of program implementation in the region and to identify current difficulties referring to medical care and cooperation with volunteers, social workers and church members.
