New round of Training for Program Volunteers

Within March 4- 7, 2013 period Moldovan ChristianAid in partnership with Diocese of Edinet and Briceni organized new wave of trainings for volunteers with "Empowering Christian Youth to deliver and promote homecare service for elderly" Program. Training Courses were organized at the premises of the Theological Liceum for Girls "St Elizabeth" from Edinet with blessing provided by the Bishop of the Edinet and Briceni  Eparchy Nicodim.

Training course aimed at developing competencies of program volunteers in organizing and providing care services for the elderly, volunteer management and efficient communication. At trainings participated 87 youngsters, 39 parish volunteers and 16 social workers and nurses from 10 villages: Alexandreni, Coteala, Donduseni, Edinet, Hincauti, Rotunda, Ruseni, Scaieni, Taul and Varatic. Training sessions were moderated by the certified experts from the leading organizations in homecare field in Moldova: Nursing Association and HomeCare Association. Participants discussed issues of social inclusion and solidarity, volunteer ethics, care provision methods and responsibilities for social commitment taken by the volunteers, etc. A special interest of the trainees called topics on improving the communication between servant and beneficiary & non-verbal communication technics.

Upon the course completion trainees expressed their gratitude for the possibility to benefit from this training and declared a strong interest for the further participation and support to the Program events. Participants suggested organization of the common follow up meetings to analyze existing problems and share the achievements.
