Family Festival ”My family is my heart”

On October 1 2017, in village Coteala, North region of Moldova a Family Festival was carried out on the open air space in front of the Community Center. Families young and old were invited and all people of all ages were welcomed at the Festival. During the festival with the message My family is my heart were organized a range of activities that promote family preservation, family unity and family values. About 100 families from the village participated in the event. The Festival was organized by the local multidisciplinary team as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. The organization of the event was possible due to the great involvement of local team, especially of the priest and social worker. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

Family Festival in Brinzeni

On October 1 2017, in village Brinzeni Family Festival was carried out on the local sport stadium. Families young and old were invited and all people of all ages were welcomed at the Festival. During the festival with the message Together in our Family were organized a range of activities that promote family preservation, family unity and family values. More than 300 people from the village participated in the event. The Festival was organized as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. Nine villages from the Northern region of Moldova are involved in the project activities. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

5 mobile teams trained in case management

In period of September 18-20th, 2017 MCA organized 5 seminars on the topic “Case Management for the elderly”. The activities took place in 5 communities in the north of Moldova which participate in the program “Strengthening advocacy capacities of the local CSOs to support vulnerable elderly in rural areas of Moldova”. The mobile teams that gathered in Alexandreni, Coteala, Edinet, Rotunda and Varatic consisted of the priest, social workers, adult and young volunteers. The seminars were facilitated by an expert in social work and sociology Mihai Nani.

During the seminars 58 participants learnt and discussed the statistical data revealing the situation of the elderly people in the country on the whole and in their communities in particular. Afterwards, the social workers reported on the 5 cases of the elderly people from each location that are in need of the community’s intervention and help. The young volunteers presented the personal data of the people under concern as well as information about their living conditions and social relations with the environment. Based on this data the team followed with working on the intervention plan for each of the elderly beneficiaries paying attention to the concrete steps and expected results.

As the result of the seminar the participants got a better understanding of the essence of case management as a tool and the actions to be taken to implement it for the elderly beneficiaries.

Planning workshop in village Zabriceni

On September 16, 2017 one more workshop was organized by the members of the multidisciplinary team in the village Zabriceni. Moldovan Christian Aid staff attended the meeting and provided needed support to the participants. The team in Zabriceni was formed during the summer 2017 for participation in implementing an advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. 9 communities from the Northern part of Moldova are involved in the project activities. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

During the workshop, 22 participants discussed the steps of the community advocacy campaign and planned exact activities to be organized during the Family Festival that is an important step of their campaign. The activities were planned to be conducted in a way that would be interesting for all members of the community and the message of the campaign would reach more people. The message of the campaign that will raise awareness of the people on the difficulties of the families with very low income was written down too. Also for each activity was selected one or two members of the multidisciplinary team. Moreover, there were planned the needed resources and the budget for each activity and the roles among team members were divided. The date for the Family Festival was decided to be October 14.

On September 15, 2017 a planning workshop within advocacy campaign was held in village Terebna, Edinet rayon. The campaign itself is carried out as part of the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. Its aim is to create a network of social workers and other active citizens and raise awareness of the community on the family problems by organizing Family Festival. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

16 members of the interdisciplinary team in Terebna together with 5 local stakeholders participated in the workshop. During the day in a participatory way were planned exact activities to be organized during the Family Festival so everyone could come with their ideas. In addition, the team decided together over the date to implement the campaign, the message of the campaign and estimated the needed costs for each activityMoldovan Christian Aid staff members provided support to the team in planning the activities, the needed resources, and the budget for the advocacy campaign that will be organized. The purpose of the community advocacy campaign is to promote family preservation, its values and importance.

On September 14, 2017 multidisciplinary team in village Varatic, Riscani district organized a planning workshop for the advocacy campaign which is going to be implemented in their community. MCA project staff attended the meeting and guided the participants in the planning process. The campaign is carried out within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

The team, which includes the village priest, one social worker, local schoolteachers, librarian, adult and young volunteers is coordinated by the community social assistant. During the meeting 21 people, members of the team and other local stakeholders, exchanged ideas and shared their opinions on how the campaign should be implemented to raise community awarennes on problems and difficulties the families face and in the end a concrete plan of activities was fixed. Also they decided over the slogan and the message of the campaign and planned the needed resources and costs. Everyone got involved in the process and showed interest in planning the activities so it will appeal to people. In addition, the team decided who is responsible of each activity so everything will go smoothly and well organized.

Planning workshop in Sirauti village

On September 13, 2017 another workshop was organized by the members of the multidisciplinary team in the village Sirauti, Briceni district. Moldovan Christian Aid staff attended the meeting and provided needed support to the participants. The team in Sirauti was formed in summer 2017 for participation in implementing an advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. 9 communities from the Northern part of Moldova are involved in the project activities. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

On September 12 planning workshops within advocacy campaigns were organized in villages Brinzeni and Blesteni, Edinet rayon. The campaign itself is carried out as part of the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

17 members of the interdisciplinary team in Brinzeni and 15 members in Blesteni participated in the workshops. During the day were planned exact activities in a participatory way so everyone could come with their ideas. In addition, the teams decided together over the dates to implement the campaign, the messages of the campaigns and estimated the needed costs for each activity. Moldovan Christian Aid staff members provided support to both teams in planning the activities, the needed resources, and the budget for the advocacy campaign that will be organized as a Family Festival. The purpose of thecommunity advocacy campaign is to promote family preservation, its values and importance.

Workshop in Alexandreni village

On September 11, a workshop with the members of the multidisciplinary team was organized in the  village Alexandreni under the guidance of Moldovan Christian Aid staff. The team was created in June 2017 for participation in implementing an advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. 9 communities from the Northern part of Moldova are involved in the project activities. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.
