Annual network meeting 2017

On December 16, 2017 the annual meeting of the network "Family & Community" was held in Edinet town. 154 team members and other stakeholders involved in the project  “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities” participated in the event.  The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the regional program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries. During the meeting 9 multidisciplinary teams from the target villages presented the advocacy campaigns they have implemented and the results and effects it had in the community.

The annual meeting started with the introduction speech of the project coordinator who summed up the project, challenges, outputs and achievements up until now. It continued with the presentations of the local teams that confirmed the summary of the MCA staff and added new relevant information on the difficulties and results of the community campaign implementation. The participants learned from the experience of other in that way. In addition every team performed a song or a poem that created a warmer atmosphere at the event. Among the participants in the meeting were people of different ages and vocations such as social workers, teachers,  priests, nurses, village mayors and other representatives of local authorities as well as adult and young volunteers. The event ended up with awarding the most active members of the multidisciplinary teams and the evaluation session.

The annual meeting was a great opportunity for the people form different teams to communicate, interact, exchange contacts, establish partnerships that will bring useful outcomes in the nearest future. Moreover the participants shared from their experiences in the sphere of organizing advocacy campaigns and social work in general.

Annual Forum 2017

On November 18, parish volunteers and youth club members from 10 villages gathered at the Annual Forum 2017. About 80 people from Alexandreni, Edinet, Varatic, Rotunda, and Coteala including youngsters, priests and other parish volunteers participated in the meeting that took place in the events hall ”Bastillia” in town Edinet.

The speeches of MCA project coordinators that highlighted the most important outcomes of the activities implemented in the target villages within the last year opened the Forum. The event continued with the speech of the bishop of Edinet and Briceni, Nicodim, who congratulated the participants with the successfully implemented activities and thanked them for the great job they do in their communities. The Forum continued with the intellectual quiz for 5 teams that included 10 young people each. It was a real challenge for the youngsters who had to remember the topics that were discussed during the trainings within a year as well as to answer the questions of general knowledge and logical ones. Moreover, within the quiz each parish had to present the results of their activities within the project " Strengthening advocacy capacities of the local CSOs to support vulnerable elderly in rural areas of Moldova." Most of the teams prepared slide show or video presentations. The winners of the quiz were awarded with a bean bag.

The Annual Forum was a great opportunity for the participants to revise the whole project period. Moreover, they had the chance to share their experiences being quite curious to see what had been done in other villages as well. This provided an opportunity to learn from the others, to see similar and familiar situations in another light and to take new ideas into consideration for further application in their future activities.

Family Festival in Terebna village

On Saturday, October 15th in village Terebna, Edinet district was held the event within community advocacy campaign Family Festival with the message Mother, Father and children are happy together. The Festival was organized on the territory of the secondary school. People of all ages together with their families participated in the activities of the Festival. Activities were organized in such way to be interesting everyone, the concert performed by the children being one of the most popular. There was held a sport contest for the families that helped the participants to feel more united with their family. The oldest families were awarded with prizes and were also asked to tell the secret of family happiness, harmony and longevity. Also, a lottery was organized at which families and children won a lot of nice and useful prizes. The people that participated in the event had a good chance to understand the importance of their families and of the peace and harmony within those.

In addition, other activities were carried out during the festival that promote family preservation, family unity and family values. The Festival was organized as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. Nine villages from the Northern region of Moldova are involved in the project activities. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

Dutch guests in visit to project sites

During October 14-21st, 2017 MCA together with its international partners, ICCO and Kerk in Actie organized a Study Visit to Moldova for 7 guests from the Netherlands. The participants, aged 50+, represented 3 communities and were interested to see Moldovan life, learn more about the local Christian NGOs and the projects that are implemented by them.

The visit started in Costesti village where on Sunday the guests visited the Orthodox Church service and were very impressed by it. They also participated in the celebration organized by PO “Filocalia” and devoted to the 10th anniversary of the Social Centre.

On the second day of the program the participants visited the MCA office where they learnt the general information about the organization and its work as well as discussed the overall situation in Moldova from the point of view of political, economic and social development. In the afternoon the visit to the Beginning of Life was organized where the participants saw the holistic approach being implemented on all the levels of the organization.

During the following days the participants also visited “Bethania” with its Elderly and Youth Centres and Homecare Centre “ Sf. Juliana” in Taul. There the Dutch guests were really impressed by the genuine devotedness with which the nurses do their duties providing palliative care to terminally ill patients.

One more unforgettable day during the trip was the one spent in village Coteala, district Briceni.  After the night in the host families the Dutch guests had a tour around the village during which they discussed with the priest the challenges and the strengths of the village life. In the afternoon together with the local young volunteers the guests visited the elderly beneficiaries of the project implemented by MCA in partnership with the local parish. They had a chance to see the mobile teams at work and also to meet the local elderly and talk to them. The evening was full of positive emotions from the cooking workshop and the informal intercultural conversation with songs, looking at pictures and exchanging cultural experiences of Moldova and the Netherlands.

The last day of the trip was marked by the walk around Chisinau sights and visit to Ulmu Youth Centre where the guests really enjoyed playing chess with the local youngsters and were impressed by the everyday work done by the local priest for the vulnerable children and youngsters from the community.

Overall, the study visit was a great opportunity for both sides to meet people from a different culture and lifestyle and to see their own culture from a new perspective. Moreover, it was a good chance for the people to learn from each other, to share their ideas and to support each other.

Family Festival "My Family is my piece of Heaven" was held in village Sirauti, North region of Moldova.  October 22, 2017 was a special day in the village, when many people together with their families gathered in the open air space next to the Community Hall. Lots of activities for the families and their children were organized, including a concert, sport competitions and drawing contests on the topic "Myself in the Family". In addition, speeches that encouraged people to preserve their family united were held from the stage. Also the speakers called on the people to support vulnerable families and those at risk of separation. About 250 people from the whole village participated in the event.

The Festival was organized by the local multidisciplinary team as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. The organization of the event was possible due to the great involvement of local team, especially of the social worker, village mayor and school teachers. The project is implemented by Moldovan Christian Aid in partnership with Nursing Association from the Republic of Moldova and Hilfswerk Austria with the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation within the program Social assistants in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighborhoods Countries.

Family Festival in Blesteni village

On Saturday, October 15th in village Blesteni, Edinet district was held the event within community advocacy campaign Family Festival with the message Family is the future of our community. The Festival was organized on the territory of the local school. People of all ages together with their families participated in the activities of the Festival. Activities were organized in such way to be interesting everyone, the concert performed by the children being one of the most popular. "Live in Family is beautiful"

Family Festival "Live in Family is beautiful" was held in village Rotunda, district Edinet, North region of Moldova.  On October 14, 2017 it was a special day in the village. On that day many people together with their families gathered in the Community Culture Center. Lots of activities for the families and their children were organized, including baking contest and hair-dressing contest the participants and winners being awarded with kitchen utensils and other equipment needed in a home. Moreover, the priest, social worker and community Center director held speeches that encouraged people to preserve their family united and to support vulnerable families. About 250 people from the whole village participated in the event.

The Festival was organized by the local multidisciplinary team as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. The organization of the event was possible due to the great involvement of local team, especially of the priest, Community Center director and social worker. Family Festival in village Zabriceni

On Saturday, October 14th in village Zabriceni was held the community event within advocacy campaign Family Festival with the message Living in a Family it's wonderful. The Festival was organized at the premises of the Community Center in the same day with the celebration of the village Holiday. People of all ages together with their families participated in the activities of the Festival. Activities were organized in such way to be interesting for all ages of people. There was held a song contest, poem contest, drawing contests, sport contest for the families and younger participants. The oldest families were awarded with prizes being asked to tell the secret of family unity and longevity.

In addition, other activities were carried out during the festival that promote family preservation, family unity and family values. The Festival was organized as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. Family Festival in Varatic village

On October 8 2017, in village Varatic, district Riscani Family Festival was carried out in the community center. Families, young and old were invited and all people of all ages were welcomed at the Festival. During the festival with the message Our Family is very Important to us were organized a range of activities and were held speeches that promote family preservation, family unity and family values. More than 300 people from the village participated in the event. The Festival was organized as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. Family Festival "Together in a Family"

Family Festival "Together in a Family" was held in village Alexandreni, district Edinet, North region of Moldova.  October 8, 2017 was a special day in the village, when many people together with their families gathered in the open air space in the center of the community. Lots of activities for the families and their children were organized, including song contest and drawing contest on the topic "Happy Family". Moreover, speeches that encouraged people to preserve their family united and to support vulnerable families and those at risk of separation. About 200 people from the whole village participated in the event.

The Festival was organized by the local multidisciplinary team as part of the community advocacy campaign within the project “Improving family protection and preservation at the local level by developing community advocacy capacities”. The organization of the event was possible due to the great involvement of local team, especially of the priest and social worker.
